Remove battery, upper radiator hose, air intake sensor, air intake hose, wiring harness clip on air intake hose, 4 bolts for throttle control 1 bolt for mount, disconnect electric connector on throttle body and clean rubber seal. It is stuck in 4WD and won't come out. It started out intermittent, where it would switch to 4WD for a few days then come out, but it now seems permanent.

Jan 9, 2013 · The ETC light flashes & limp more engages. Sometimes it resolves by releasing the accelerator pedal & then then my Patriot will be fine. Other times I need to pull over & either put the CVT in Park or turn off the engine & restart. The ESC or CEL lights do not appear, no do any others.

The throttle body is a part of the ESC system, and if any part of the system shows a fault, the ESC is automatically disabled.
