It is a safety assist system. It is not a self driving system. Honda needs to get to Level 4 autonomous driving specs before any Honda is even remotely capable of overcoming things like this. Once systems move to Lidar sensors, they will be able to ignore or filter out spurious events like reflected sunlight.
After reading about the current Toyota Safety Sense package, Steering Assist looks to be a minimal feature attached to Lane Departure Alert. The new Lane Tracing Assist is more analogous to how Honda's Lane Keeping Assist operates. You have to actively steer or else the car pingpongs from side to side.
