It has slightly more felt recoil than the 30 due to lighter slide and thinner grip. I never noticed musch difference with the 36 slide on my 30 (same as 30s).

The grip itself is that of a Gen3 30SF (short frame), which makes holding a double-stack .45 caliber pistol more manageable for shooters with smaller hands. According to Glock the 30S was designed for the LAPD's SIS and my understanding is they use 230 grain +P HST's in all their 45s. It would make sense to me to run the same ammo. The 30 serves as a duty gun, carry gun and a field/woods gun. The LCP has its place, as a second gun or when a small, light gun is all you can carry. But the 30 gets carried almost continuously. The 9mm is not a bad cartridge. It offers lots of capacity and is cheap to shoot.G30/G30S are more similar to P320 or XD Mod.2 subcompacts. Shield carries 1 round more than even Kahr CW45 and 2 more than CM45 or XD-S (although Springfield provide extended magazines). Still, it's far short from the usual 10-round capacity on small double stacks such as Mod.2 or G30.
