Hi this is my first post, I am retirement age and don't type or spell well, but I bought a Knight 45 cal original disc that takes the orange discs,and want to convert it to shoot bare primer and Blackhorn 209 powder. The primer used was a Winchester W209 in a orange Knight primer jacket. To prepare the rifle, I swabbed the oil from the bore with alcohol. I then dried the bore and popped two primers through the rifle. I was now ready to load. My first load was a 250 grain Shockwave using the included sabot. I loaded 100 grains of Blackhorn 209 powder.

Im sure ive shot 45kpsi (ish) loads in my SavPac 45. Never blew a primer. Thats gunna take a LOT of BH209 and if the Peregrine action and shank OD is similar to other Knights its only about 1" at the largest point. You will want 4-5" of shank at least that large to accomodate the long powder column and pressure.

The FPJ uses 209 primers, western uses #11 caps. They both work just fine. I use #11's in all my knight plunger guns. In the plunger guns, I wouldn't recommend using BH209 powder, just stick to real black, pyrodex, or 777. If you go with a Mountaineer, you should request the Non Full Plastic Jacket (NFPJ) breechplug setup. If using the Knight bare primer bolt body you can make a tool from a 6mm boxed end wrench. You just need to grind a little off the outside of the wrench so it fits in the bolt body.
