It has the old style pre crimp station with brass inserts and is very hard to adjust. Can I order the Spindex Kit for a new 600 Jr Mark 5 # 8439? OR, do I need the new Kit from the 82-85 # 8462?Find a 20 ga. press in need of some repair or missing bottles for a great deal, you will be much better off than trying to install 20 ga. dies on a 12 ga. press. You should be able to buy a working 600 jr. 20 ga MEC for around $25.00 on the website should you be patient. That's less than the cost of new 20 ga. dies for your old press.Open the MEC 600 Jr Mark V loading press. Remove any shells from the machine. Locate the pressure adjustment screw located on the base of the press near the shell plate. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to increase the wad pressure or counterclockwise to decrease the wad pressure, a quarter to a half turn at a time.

Get a 20 ga. single-stage MEC 600 Jr. or a Sizemaster All you need is a "spacer" (like a penny or two) at the shell base for the last two stations, and adjust the pre-crimp die and the final crimp die downward for 2 1/2" and you will be set to go. Upgrade the pre-crimp to the "spin-dex" version, this will allow to to achieve any pre-crimp you want. The original one was adjusted using fender washers and only allowed 1/16" adjustments. Once again, if your pre-crimp is black in color this has already been done. Get a new charge bar and a bunch of powder bushings.May 29, 2013 ... At station 4 the crimp starter is updated and the new one works pretty well, but then so did the old one. The final crimp station is also updated but again, not significantly better than the old version. But there are really only 2 different sets. MEC sure did get confusing on this one, because the part numbers for the pre-82 600 jr die set and the 83-85 set are the same (8335XX). On the other hand, Ballistics Products uses 1983 as the crossover point and lists the newer style die set (8452XX) for anything after 1983.
