Free Archetype does open up the opportunities a bit. But by level 10 you have your normal reaction, a dedicated shield block reaction, and a dedicated AoO reaction. You have the powerful champion reaction. Not to mention your Divine Ally Shield, which can take a beating. Probably 1 use of Lay of Hands.
I haven't played it yet, but the Thaumaturge is thebfirst 2E class that has me really excited to play (and I'm going to untroduce my new Thaumaturge character into the campaign very soon - we're level 8).
