I rated the Tippmann Industrial HS "The Boss" sewing machine a 5 on style because it's not a pretty machine, but it's one of those things where you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. It's pretty light, but it'll sew every bit of the 3/4" of leather it's supposed to. It's not an electric sewing machine though--it's hand powered.
If you are careful to make sure each stroke is consistent and against the limit stops, then there are only three main adjustments that can influence stitch consistency. 1.) Thread tensions (needle and bobbin), 2.) Machine timing and 3.) Presser foot tension.Poorly wound bobbins can cause the thread to twist out from under the tension spring. Load the bobbins inside the bobbin case so they feed backwards, with a sharp turn into the slot and tension spring.
