try to pull the hood release lever with its cable tightly pulled towards you. that may tighten the loose cable so a release can happen. then pull out the hood piece hard, so the lock would release. trimming is not a good idea, because it would be hard to set it back into the assembly. try this, good luck. vote it!!

Maybe you got lucky and if you access the cable from the LF fender it may have broke before the latch. You can also try to access the latch from the bottom with a pry bar or see if you can remove the rear hood hinges from the body I think they are two 12mm on each side. I've done the resets by pulling driver side fuse #13 and turning the switch off/on. That didn't work. I did the PSD reset by pulling the driver, passenger, and under hood fuses #7 and the other main 40 amp one. That didn't work.
