It's broken AF in Windows and has been forever. Modern computers are almost as fast from a cold boot as they are from Sleep, without all the problems. As mentioned, don't use sleep. Try Hibernation instead. It takes a picture of your memory and saves it to the SSD. Not as fast as sleep but much more reliable. You can either use command center and have different profiles set up. And then you can switch between your profiles. You could have one that has all lights on, one that has just keyboard lights, or one that has just back lights.
