Same here. Brand new LR4, worked great out of the box, all three cats were cool with it. 24 hours later, it’s Friday night and my spouse asked me to do the firmware update, which of course bricked it with no support until Monday. What a great way to make a first impression on a new customer! 😫

If it's a DNS issue it would be some type of change made by the Whisker team in their configuration of the app and/or the firmware of the device.
