Hexcrafter changes the playstyle of the Magus to be more than 'Spell Combat - Shocking Grasp - Spellstike' to be a bit more versatile with what their actions are during their turn. Hexcrafter has some tricks. If you want to inflict hexes with melee attacks, dip a level of monk and take Hex Strike.Without the Magus, this might have been a TPK for us. Nobody else in the group had single target frost or water attacks. We can theory craft about the differences in the builds all day, but boy oh boy does Magus bring more tools and spike damage to the table. Could have an Eldritch Archer done comparable damage? Not at level 8. Level 4. Skill feat - trick magic item Class feat - student of the staff. Level 5. Ability boosts - Str 19, con 16, int 16, Cha 12 Ancestry feat - defy the darkness. Level 6. Skill feat - terrifying resistance Class feat - cascade counter measure. Let me know what you think or if there are ways to up this build. The deeper diving includes potential archetypes to enter and there are more of dex only requirement than str only requirement as most of the str multiclasses usually require a secondary attribute. Lower str means less carry weight, but higher dex means less armor weight. Hope it helps. The free hand bonuses are a bit of a trap with that study imo.That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved.
