You obtain event quests the exact same in SB as you did in base game, you talk to the Courier cat, claim the add on stuff. It happened to me and I finnally managed to fix it. It seems to be a DNS issue. I fixed it by opening command prompt and typing "ipconfig /flushdns" and hitting enter right after booting the game.
It gave the cutscene message at first after the cut scene it just failed to join quest. Same here. We both joined the quest, saw the cutscenes, but then can't join each other. It lets us all the way through the menus to join until a "failed to join the quest" appears. As mentioned before it is either the assignment being failed before you join, or the party reaches capacity before you join. It usually means the group filled up while you were debating to join or not. Due to the fact that the game doesn't count the others as in the quest, the group is still full.
Yeah either I drop into a quest after a few seconds or if no open hunt exists people drop into mine in seconds if I make a new one. Friend B even invited us individually into his private session to get us in the same squad to try a squad session, but it's the same issue where if one of us is in the session, the other can't join.
