Ford taurus cranks but wont start.

10 posts · Joined 2014. #1 · Jun 22, 2017. Had to run an errand today to find out my 2003 Taurus Duratec (DOHC) wouldn't start. The starter would run but the engine would never fire and run. First thing I did was check battery terminal, starter connection, and tried to listen for fuel pump to hear it prime. All three were good.Thread. 1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks - '92, 4.9L, Cranks over, won't start... - I'm losing my mind with my trusted 300. As I stated in the title, it will crank over but won't start.... This has never happened in all 10 years I have owned it. Recently this year, I found a major culprit with it running like crap,...I just bought a 05 freestyle fwd v6. It looks like a new car, especially the interior. It will not crank with the key. No power to the starter relay (engine compartment) from the key, but starter relay has constant power. Starter will turn over engine when relay is jumped but engine will not start, doesn't even try (yes, key in run position).I have a 2000 Ford Taurus, it cranks but no start. Problem is intermittent though, one day it won't start, the next day it will and act as though it never happened. Problem started after an oil leak from the oil filter, took it in and got it serviced, full oil change new filters, and supposedly they cleaned up the mess it made. Leak is fixed.

There was a mis-fire on cylinder 3 code, and an egr code. there was no CEL on, but i scanned it anyway and that is what it said. So i started with the basics. Fuel, compression, spark. You can turn the key to "on" and listen for the fuel pump prime, a low humming noise for about 2 seconds. If no noise, either the pump or pump circuitry has failed. The pump can still run and you have a fuel pressure problem though.It it will still not start check that the fuel shutoff switch in the trunk is not tripped. Make sure the button is pushed down. If unsure disconnect it and use a paper clip to jump the two wires. If it will still not start use a hammer and beat on the bottom of the tank while your helper cranks the engine.Check next for a missing or shredded serpentine belt. If this belt failed, the alternator and water pump would no longer have power to turn them. There's quite a few things that can get rattled after a fender bender. I don't think there's any fuses that wouldn't hold it out in start, only in run... but check all fuses for the engine anyway. Check fuel pressure and the vacuum as well. Watch alternator voltage as well. It's built for speed, it ain't built to last.
