I don't think you can go wrong with either rifle. My choice would depend on my budget. I would choose the Tikka if I had the cash reserved to top it with decent glass. But, if it would only leave me with Barska quality optics to mount on the Tikka I would choose the American and put better glass on it. JMHO.I own and love the Tikka T3/T3X series. Everything about the Tikka feels and looks higher quality — except the plastic mag. Tikka trigger is noticeably better. I got my T3X before prices went up, so at less than $600, it was a steal. On the other hand, I forked over nearly $500 for the RAR-P with AI mag.

The Tikka is a better smoother action, but the RPR is just "easy". For the $500 difference I'd get the A1. If you can find a 6.5 RPR for $999, I'd go that route. The advice on getting a used Tikka action or T3x and dropping it into a Bravo aren't a bad idea.
