High IV stocks are not always the best covered call strategy. Tesla has been great in the past few weeks for sure on OTM call premiums. But, in a rundown, you are less flexible on selling your shares. I've certainly seen a number of good traders write covered calls on low IV stocks a few levels OTM who do well on income week to week.
