I'm afraid there is a problem with modem since I can't get to system control center.- automatic-updates: your computer and any other programs you use will often keep working in the background, even if you're not actively using that program, in order to keep your system/program up-to-date. Anti-virus programs will periodically use your internet connection to check back with their malware database for any updates.

The reps are normally on M-F from approximately 8AM to 5PM EST, though once in a while there is one on during the weekends and/or evenings. Even though you can't connect, it would still be a good idea to leave the modem plugged in so that the reps can attempt to run remote diagnostics on it.

All devices are going to have an "IP Address" and if there is a conflict in those addresses then things are not going to work.
