The idea of the imprinting is that one rider and one Dino have a 'special connection' because you alone hand cared for that baby and did what it needed, it gives you incentive to ride Specific Dinos and even more incentive to look after them.

So if your mature speed is x then cuddle interval needs to be 1/x to get the timing correct. If you want 100% on any tame in the game you can put a line in your Game.ini file that will give you 100% with one imprint.
