It shows up in the contacts as a neutral faction and it's only unit is the portal itself. Closing it just makes you lose the job slot, it seems. I don't think anything really happens if you leave it open. But if you're a spiritualist empire, you can pray the portal away and get early access to Psionic Theory, which is nice. Or if you're a feudal society, you can fill the portal with rocks until something on the other side forces it ...Hi, I have a similar issue.
