Nowadays, WA offers quality sport, classic trad, beautiful alpine, glacier treks on volcanoes, plus ice and mixed climbing. Exit 32; Little Si or Deception Crags has the nearest sport crags to the Seattle area. The climbing gym industry has grown at an unprecedented rate in the past several years. In 2014, 29 new climbing facilities opened (9% growth over the previous year); in 2015, 40 new facilities are planned. Yet in the past three years, only 8 out of 353 commercial climbing facilities in the United States have been sold or acquired.
