The rifled slug "rifeling" around the slug does nothing for aerodynamics. They are there for shotguns with chokes to allow it to pass without exploding the end of the barrel.I cure that by buying a magazine cap and removing the magazine extension so when I go shoot sporting clays, I take the extension off and put the cap on and it works out pretty well. Not exact animal, but I use my 940 Pro Waterfowl for sporting clays and 5-stand. Really like it. Maybe remove the JM's extended tube when heading out for clays.

In my opinion, you'd get a lot more for your money buying the JM Pro and picking up an add-on SPX ghost ring barrel. The SPX ghost ring rear sight is made by LPA and is mounted on a picatinny rail, so that's an easy add. Bud's has the 9-shot JM Pro (85119) listed at $599 right now compared to $724 for the standard SPX (85370).
