In the meantime, players have reported that starting Steam, disabling the internet, then loading the game bypasses the crashing issue. Internet can be reenabled afterwards. #1. The solution was fairly simpel, just navigate to where Stellaris is installed (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Stellaris) and start the game by running stellaris.exe. This bypasses the Paradox Launcher which seems to be what caused the lag for me. I hope this helps someone. ... One fix is to add -opengl at startup args. If you get red dots/lines after opengl turn off anisotropic filtering at GPU control.
